@ Leather Lane WEDNESDAY 21st & THURSDAY 22nd September 2011

Ash Sakula, initiators of the Leather Lane Stars project, are taking the opportunity of Green Sky Thinking week to rethink what makes a successful, mixed and vibrant street market in the 21st century. Come Wednesday and Thursday to our stalls in the market and our evening events, and share your thoughts on how the public realm around Leather Lane can be adapted to focus better on local people, businesses and traders. Its conversation that makes community and people that make public space, so lets do a bit of both…

Trading Conversations: 11-14:00 Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd Day in Leather Lane Market

We’ll be manning three decked-out market-stalls-cum-conversation-machines, extolling the richness of the area, telling tales, sharing stories, selling banners and making things -sowing machines whirring, crayons colouring, pens commenting- for and with everyone who comes along.

Looking Forward: 18:00-21:00 Wednesday 21st, Evening at the Craft Beer Co 82 Leather Lane

Sipping Beer brewed in the local area while listening to and having open discussions with Tim Driscoli, Chairman of the Leather Lane Traders Assoc, and Richard Williams, Traded Services Manager for Camden, as well as local residents, traders and businesses. Whats the plan, and how can we all contribute?

Looking Back: 18:00-21:00 Thursday 22nd, Evening at Le Regal Cafe 91 Leather Lane

A night to re-engage with and re-evaluate what has always made London’s Markets great. The places, the characters, and the communities that often found their, best, loudest and most public expression in the city’s stalls; an historical commerce of communities in a city of immigration.
